The focal point of the media is to make and not to break. The Media in Rwanda need to find lasting solutions to the challenges facing media development and the promotion of freedom and professionalism. 

Umuseso’s defamation and invasion of the privacy of Cabinet Affairs Minister Protais Musoni, suggests that the media body still has a long, long way to go. Despite challenges that the media faces, it’s unfortunate they write stories that are totally inaccurate just to sell a paper.

Hot gossip is sweet but it comes at a price if based on lies. Making desperate moves to make money only shows a lack of professionalism in the media, probably due to the persistent unwillingness for people to change and the lack of proper trainings. Unfortunately, this is what will continue to slow its progress in the country.

Media houses with unethical and unqualified journalists ,who distort information, like the case of Umuseso, shall hamper media progress and will possibly lead  to the death of ethical journalism nin our nation.

Rwanda’s Media needs to focus more on ways of reinforcing lasting solutions to these challenges in order to birth true journalism.
