THE Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) has confirmed that security plans for the Games are on track. The Games will run from October 3-14 in New Delhi, India. The CGF has deemed comments about security concerns in Delhi as ill informed despite the recent tragic bombing in Pune and reports that an Al Qaeda militant has directly threatened Delhi 2010, in addition to the Hockey World Cup and Indian Premier League cricket (IPL).

The Games will run from October 3-14 in New Delhi, India.
The CGF has deemed comments about security concerns in Delhi as ill informed despite the recent tragic bombing in Pune and reports that an Al Qaeda militant has directly threatened Delhi 2010, in addition to the Hockey World Cup and Indian Premier League cricket (IPL).
The CGF CEO Mike Hooper insists that while security remains a key issue for Delhi, the federation continues to monitor the security environment closely and is in regular contact with Indian authorities and the Organising Committee in relation to the Games security.
Delhi won the right to host the Games after beating the Canadian city of Hamilton 46 votes to 22 at the CGF General Assembly held in Montego Bay in November 2003.
Rwanda joined the federation last year and is eager to field athletes for the following disciplines; athletics, cycling, table tennis, netball, boxing and swimming.
