The 98th Academy Awards will take place in Los Angeles on March 15, celebrating the best films of 2025 and the people behind them.
Hollywood's biggest night will be held at the renowned Dolby Theatre, where the global film industry will gather to honour the year's most outstanding achievements in cinema.
The ceremony will be hosted by comedian Conan O'Brien. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presents the awards annually to recognise excellence across filmmaking, including acting, directing, writing, and technical achievements.
This year’s nominations were announced on January 22, with films such as Sinners and One Battle After Another dominating the race.
The vampire drama Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, leads the field with a record 16 nominations, the most ever received by a single film in Oscars history.
The Best Picture category features 10 films, including Bugonia, Hamnet, Frankenstein, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, Sinners, Train Dreams, and F1.
In the acting categories, some of the leading contenders include Timothée Chalamet for Marty Supreme, Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Michael B. Jordan for Sinners, and Jessie Buckley for Hamnet.
Any African nominees?
Africa will also have representation at this year’s ceremony.
The Tunisian film The Voice of Hind Rajab, directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, is nominated for Best International Feature Film, making it the only African film to reach the final nominations in the category despite several submissions from the continent.
Meanwhile, Nigerian-born British actress Wunmi Mosaku earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Sinners.
The ceremony is expected to bring together top filmmakers, actors and industry leaders from around the world as Hollywood celebrates another year of storytelling on the big screen.
