Reading enables us to learn. It is because of reading that pupils are able to pass and get promoted to secondary schools and later higher institutions of learning like universities.

Good performing students will always say they read their notes.

Betty Murungi is 12 years old in P.5 at La Colombeire Primary School. She said "Reading is part of my home timetable and I always revise my books before I sleep. I read the subjects I will study the following day.”

Murungi says this helps her to understand her teachers and answer questions from previous lessons.

Samuel Barigye, a pupil at APA COPE Primary School said, "Reading is interesting because we make friends most especially when we read as a group.”

"I have made many friends through reading because we help each other whenever we are stuck,” Bariye said.
Reading is interesting but there should be time to relax and play games in order to have a fresh mind.

Another student, Gerald Gasasira,18, of Glory Secondary School emphasized that the best way to read is when you are relaxed.

"It is not easy for students to understand when they read under pressure because they cram and fail to remember whatever they read,” he said.

Therefore, effective reading is only possible when you are relaxed. if students want to understand and remember what they read they should rest.
