According to the Ministry of Health, their discussions focused on global health security and strategic collaboration, including advancing the implementation of the bilateral health agreement and signing a complementary framework reinforcing cooperation.
The meeting builds on a $228 million bilateral health cooperation agreement signed in Washington, DC in December 2025.
Under that five‑year agreement, the United States committed up to $158 million to support Rwanda’s efforts to combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other infectious diseases, and to strengthen disease surveillance and outbreak response.
Rwanda plans to increase its domestic health investment by about $70 million over the period of the partnership.
