Simon N.Gicharu

Simon N.Gicharu is teacher who has managed to own a private university at just 44. Gicharu owns Mt Kenya University; one of the recognized private universities in the Easter African Region. He is married with three children, two boys and a girl.

Below he shares with you a bit about his life:

The first thing you do in the morning

I get to the gym in my house for physical fitness

When are you happiest

Basically when I am in a new environment like this time when I am in Rwanda for the first time

Greatest fear

Failure

Affectionate memory of your parents

When I was travelling with my father in his old pick up, it broke down but I realized my father was more concerned about my life.

What keeps you awake at night?

When students are being disturbed by effects which are beyond my control, like one incident when a student was accidentally shot by the police.

The most important thing life has taught you

To be a humble man and realizing the need for other people in becoming successful

Greatest achievement

Being the youngest Kenyan to start a successful university

During your free time

I socialize with my friends and enjoy reading

Retirement plans

I plan to start a foundation that contributes to the needy
