THE HATER : I hate people who…

…send anonymous flowers and messages. People have various ways of expressing affection for each other. With communication improving each year, more and more affection is expressed worldwide. I however reserve a lot of disgust and hatred for people in the habit of anonymously sending flowers or love messages. I never let these anonymous people spoil my day. When I see the messages from the numbers I cannot recognise, I just hit the delete button.

Flowers from anonymous sources make very good manure when you throw them away immediately. I am an adult and I have better things to do than guessing who has sent me a message or flowers.

…wear t-shirts with words they do not understand.

The desire to appear smart in public seems to have taken so many twists and turns forcing many to lose the whole plot. I keep seeing (and hating) those guys who wear t-shirts with phrases they do not understand or cannot even read? Some of these t-shirts have got Chinese or Japanese language phrases.

Others have English phrases that the owners know nothing about. Next time you buy a shirt with words you don’t understand please check the dictionary first otherwise you may unknowingly become a mobile laughing stock.

…use English to insult others.

It is a very good thing to learn a new and global language like English. The fact that a large number of Rwandans are more comfortable with Kinyarwanda and French as compared to English has given some people an opportunity to exhibit how silly they can be.

These people speak Kinyarwanda but use English to insult others especially when they assume the other people do not understand the language.

Surprisingly these jokers do not often appear to be fluent in this foreign language. There are better ways to use this language than to express public foolishness.

…display a lot of greed in public.

If you have attended a party recently that involved a session for meals you may have seen the people I am talking about. There are these parties where a buffet is offered to the guests. Unfortunately some of them use the opportunity to display their greed for food.

Last weekend at a party I saw a guy who kept putting almost everything on his plate. At some point the plate was so full that this greedy fellow decided to just hold the piece of meat in his hand. He had loaded his plate with all sorts of food including toothpicks which he thought were some kind of exotic food.

…think that hissing is a sign of civilisation.

In Genesis, we are told that Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit. However sometimes I think some people ate the snake instead of the fruit. For how can you explain the irritating habit of drawing people’s attention by hissing at them even at close range!

I see this often in the different Kigali restaurants. Instead of politely calling out a waiter by for instance saying, "Excuse me” someone simply hisses at the waiter.

What these jokers do not know is that this silly act portrays them as ill mannered and uncultured. There are better ways of getting someone’s attention than simply showing the whole world your gross mis-education.
