RUHANGO - Byimana School of Sciences, a mixed boarding school run by the Marist Catholic Brothers, emerged top performer in the province with all registered candidates passing the examinations. While paying an impromptu visit to the school, the Governor, of the Southern Province, Fidele Ndayisaba, commended students and staff of the school for the success recorded in last year’s A-level examination.

At national level, the school came second overall in physics, chemistry, and mathematics (PCM) subject combination and sixth in the mathematics, chemistry, and biology (MCB) combination.

"This is a tremendous national achievement for our province,” said the Governor, "your success is testimony to the commitment and hard work of your teachers and administration. Last year’s achievement should be a benchmark for even better performance in future,” the Governor said

The Governor revealed that a computer laboratory, pledged by President Paul Kagame will be constructed at the school in recognition of the outstanding performance the school has registered over the years.

"The President, during a recent tour of the province promised this school a computer laboratory, he loves this school and he fully recognizes the success that you have registered over the years,” Ndayisaba told the students.

Gisagara district from the same province was ranked as the best performing district in the country in last years A-level examinations. While six districts from the province were ranked among the top ten in the country.

Father Stanislas Ngombwa, the director of the school attributed the school’s success to good teachers who are committed to their work.

"We are close to our students, the teachers are committed to their work, we look forward to posting better results this year,” said Fr Ngombwa.
