The random delicacies that can only be in Nyamirambo

The nose breaking aromas from the various eating places and the hissing sound of frying substances are some of the experiences that welcome a person on passing through Biryogo to deeper Nyamirambo. Walking through these streets I couldn’t help the nostalgic memories of my campus life where I was a proud owner of two roles projects…I came to realise that these boys in Nyamirambo have actually pioneered the delicacy here as well.

Apart from the conventional foods of all types which are in Nyamirambo, the place  provides a wide range of snacks ranging from exotic hamburgers to the notoriously delicious Kikomando.

Kikomando for those who are hearing it for the first time, is a snack made out of chapattis and beans, it’s normally served to broke university students due to the fact that its cheap and easily prepared.

Rolex which is a chapatti stamped onto fried eggs with other ingredients like raw tomatoes and cabbage, has gained much reputation to the extent that even grown up people now days consume it as opposed to when it was only for the young.

When he saw me approaching his work station…okay the table where he packages his chapattis from before putting them on the blazing charcoal stove, Damascene Nshimiyimana looks at me as though he noticed am not his regular customer.

I didn’t blame him for the prejudice because it’s not common to think that a gentleman clad with an impeccable necktie could shop for a Rolex.

He was hesitant to talk to me which am used to considering the usual contempt that is a common journalistic experience here, he finally tells me that he has just started up this business and thinks its progressing well which was evidenced by the many people who turned up during my short stay.

Although he has different names he calls these delicacies, he prepares them the same way Mpanga my employee at Campus used to.

He told me there are like 10 chapatti makers around Nyamirambo and that most of them are still new in the field that they are struggling with packaging the product were by adventuring which ingredients are liked most by the customers.

This place has a number of other food stuffs and ranging from traditional cuisines and exotic foods like hamburgers and others.

Due to the various cultures that are exercised in this upcoming metropolitan city, there are many types of foods prepared and consumed there.

Dativa Murekatete restaurant owner says she prepares all kinds of food because she expects a wide range of people who consume the food.

"With this place you can never tell who will come to eat, so I prepare variety and this has helped me and my customers,” she said
