On the 12th of January, a huge earthquake hit Haiti. The casualties have already reached the hundreds of thousands and are still rising.

Before any one could say ‘’help’’ money and media attention, and what it entails, was flowing from all over the world.

In 1994, a well planned genocide against the Tutsi began in Rwanda, killing 1 million and leaving survivors terrorized for their entire lives.  During these one hundred days, the UN and all international community were watching the killings on their TV screens like a football game.

The powerful nations of the world just ignored the scream of thousands of people who were dying every day saying, "it’s not our problem.’’

I send this message to the entire world community: Whoever suffers because of natural catastrophes like tsunamis and earthquakes, or man made tragedies like wars or anything like that should be treated equally. The world community has a moral obligation to help a nation and people that are in suffering.

Now that people in Haiti have started to go back to school, it’s time for the whole international community to think about the survivors who after almost 15 years after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi are living in desperate conditions.
