Africans have to stop taking aid all the time!

Editor, I find Joesph Rwagatare’s articles always thoughtful and well structured; so much so that the only thing that readers can say are loud “Amens”. Amen to your proposal that Africa needs to start saying firm NO’s to foreign donations. Yes, it is a high time that we developed homegrown solutions to homegrown problems. Otherwise we will never learn how to stand and then walk on our own two feet.

Editor,

I find Joesph Rwagatare’s articles always thoughtful and well structured; so much so that the only thing that readers can say are loud "Amens”.

Amen to your proposal that Africa needs to start saying firm NO’s to foreign donations. Yes, it is a high time that we developed homegrown solutions to homegrown problems. Otherwise we will never learn how to stand and then walk on our own two feet.

Amen for your proposal that Africa should start giving to other people for a change. Giving is definitely more dignifying than getting.

It is also the perfect cure for the prevailing culture and mentality of begging which is quite ignorant of the abundant natural and human resources of our continent.
