Star point guard Elliott Cole scored a game high 15 points to inspire Rwanda Energy Group (REG) to a 69-55 victory over RSSB Tigers in Rwanda Basketball league on Friday night at BK Arena.

The win saw REG maintain their perfect start to the league campaign as they remain unbeaten in their opening three matches.

The team, coached by Ogoh Odaudu, won the first quarter 13-8 but Tigers quickly recovered to take the second quarter 23-22 and reduce the gap to four points before the break.

Back in the second half, REG started playing aggressively and extended their lead to 16 points after winning the third quarter 20-8. Tigers’ won the last quarter 16-14 but it was not enough to make a comeback.

Elliott, who is playing his first season at REG, scored 15 points and 4 assists while Prince Muhizi and Patrick Nshizirungu added 11 and 10 respectively to help Odaudu’s side claim the third win of the season.

REG now top the table standings with 6 points, one ahead of second-placed RSSB Tigers.

In earlier fixtures, Patriots claimed their first win of the season after beating United Generation (UGB) 87-70.

In the women’s league, APR women edged Kepler 54-44.
