NOT RECONTESTING: Rudakubana

AFTER ten years at the helm of the local tennis federation (RTF), Dr. Charles Rudakubana has decided to step down.

The 50-year-old, veteran sports administrator, who replaced Ignace Beraho at the helm of the National Olympics Committee (RNOC), will not recontest for presidency during Saturday’s elections at Amahoro stadium.
RTF’s technical director Thierry Ntwali reckons that Rudakubana’s decision is down to his new responsibilities at RNOC.

"There are no fixed term limits for the executive committee but Rudakubana has his hands full at RNOC so he won’t recontest,” Ntwali told Times Sport.

The race for RTF president is now down to two candidates; Theoneste Karenzi and former vice president Francois Ruterana.

Augustin Gatera and Alain Bizimana are running for 1st vice president while Cleophas Kabasita and Viateur Kabiligi are unchallenged for the posts of 2nd vice president and treasurer.

Lauren Kanamugire and Theoneste Bahati are vying for the post of Secretary General.
