Karongi residents urged to be patriotic

KARONGI – Residents of Bwishyura sector in Karongi district have been called upon to be patriotic and promote love for the country in order to collectively participate in national development. The call was made by Sebastian Hakizimana, the district’s Vice Mayor in charge of economic affairs yesterday, while speaking to residents who had participated in community work (umuganda) to rehabilitate one of the poor roads in the sector.

KARONGI – Residents of Bwishyura sector in Karongi district have been called upon to be patriotic and promote love for the country in order to collectively participate in national development.

The call was made by Sebastian Hakizimana, the district’s Vice Mayor in charge of economic affairs yesterday, while speaking to residents who had participated in community work (umuganda) to rehabilitate one of the poor roads in the sector.

"It’s important to promote love for country and appreciate the developmental policy since national development is a collective responsibility,” he said.

He further encouraged residents to promote cleanliness, good settlement plans and to adopt better methods of farming.

Ahead of this year’s forth coming presidential elections, Hakizimana called upon residents to acquire identity cards and cross check in the voters’ register to ensure that everyone gets a chance to vote.
