Women basketball league leaders Rwanda Energy Group (REG) are eager to maintain their unbeaten form ahead of Wednesday’s crucial game against Azomco at Petit Stade.

Azomco will be keen to avoid a second consecutive loss after a slow start to the new season with a 71-52 defeat at the hands of APR over the weekend.

They will, however, need to stop REG who look to register what would be their third consecutive victory this season, with their most recent win coming against Groupe Scolaire Sainte Marie Reine Rwaza 80-52 last week.

REG have won the women’s basketball league championships on the past two occasions but their recent 75–62 Super Cup loss to APR signaled at a big challenge await them this season.

Prior to the game, head coach Esperance Mukaneza expressed sense of optimism for good results.

"We are well prepared and ready for Wednesday’s game, the target is to win because the title race is very tight,” she told Times Sport.

But their rivals Azomco are unfazed no matter comes their way, according to head coach Emmanuel Habumugisha.

"We have the upper hand but we won’t feel intimidated or shy away from the challenge, we will go into the game to win. It is important that we win and boost our confidence.”

Action also continues on the men’s basketball league where APR will be up against East African University Rwanda (EAUR) while Inspired Generation will host Azomco at Petit Stade.
