Petro de Luanda have acquired South Sudanese small forward Peter Jok ahead of the sixth season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Petro de Luanda have acquired South Sudanese small forward Peter Jok ahead of the sixth season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

The Angolan giants secured Jok on a deal that will run until the end of the season, strengthening their roster as they prepare for continental competition.

Born in South Sudan, Jok represents a new generation of players from a nation steadily rising on the international basketball stage. Standing at 1.95 meters, he possesses the versatility to operate on the perimeter as well as attack the rim. He is widely recognised for his three-point shooting efficiency, shot creation ability, offensive mobility and composure in high-pressure situations.

Jok previously played for several clubs in the United States and Europe. He competed in college basketball with the University of Iowa before beginning his professional career with KK Cibona in the Croatian Basketball League.

On the international stage, Jok was part of the South Sudan national team that achieved historic qualification for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, marking the country’s emergence on the global scene. He later represented South Sudan at the 2024 Summer Olympics, further cementing his reputation as a player of international calibre.

His arrival is expected to boost Petro de Luanda’s ambitions as they aim to make a strong impact in the upcoming BAL campaign.
