Editor,

A three day local leaders meeting begun on Sunday in Musanze, Northern Province. This meeting, which involves local government leaders at a district and provincial level, is extremely important because of its end goal: to find a way to increase production through mass mobilization.

I find this goal extremely essential because of this fact; the ambitions and future of this nation are in the hands of each and every citizen.

When we can fully utilize the strengths of each and every Rwandan the goals of Vision 2020 aren’t only possible but rather a guarantee.

The Minister of Local Government, James Musoni, is totally correct when he called upon local authorities to change their mindsets and redesign their priorities in implementing programs.

This is so because unless the leaders at a local level can start thinking outside the box, then what hope do the masses have? They are called leaders because of one thing; they ‘lead’.

One cannot expect that the populace to run around without direction like headless chickens, it’s the leaders remit to give direction.

I sincerely hope that this meeting will introduce real action and it won’t end up being a just another useless waste of tax payers monies.

Sam Musoni
