ETINCELLES have continued to prove that their dazzling display in the first round was not down to sheer luck. On Sunday, the Western Province side got their second round campaign off to a positive note following a 1-0 home victory over Amagaju.

It was their eighth win of the season and preserved their lead at the top of the table prompting the club’s head coach Rajab Bizimuremye to issue another warning to the big guns (APR, Atraco and Rayon Sport).

"We want to start from where we left off in the first round but we also know that we have to double our efforts,” he said.

Etincelles, who had to wrestle their way back to the top flight at the end of last season, have continued to raise eyebrows with the way in which they have consistently grinded out wins.

"The most important thing right now is to keep our feet on the ground and play each game as it comes. Of course, we are under pressure to keep up with the good run but we have to make sure we stay focused and strong mentally,” the 50-year-old noted.

Etincelles have a daunting task over the next few weeks after learning that they will play three consecutive away games before hosting Rayon.

The away games will be played against Kiyovu, Mukura and Police.

The Blues, who have not won the league title since 2004, overcame their financial woes to defeat Electrogaz 2-1. The win pushed them into third spot.

On the other hand, Mukura suffered a 1-0 defeat against AS Kigali to drop bottom.
