KIGALI - The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, John Rwangombwa, has called upon donors to back the government’s development strategies.

Rwangombwa said this during a two-day meeting that ended Friday between the government and its development partners to review and discuss progress in the coordination and harmonization of activities to improve effectiveness of development assistance.

"It is imperative that you, our partners, offer support to programmes such as the Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS) and Vision 2020 right from the sector level.

"By supporting our budget or boosting various sectors, Rwanda will quickly attain the key development objectives,” the minister noted.

UN Resident Coordinator  Aurelien Agbenoci, also commended Rwanda for being one of the few countries that manage donor resources very well.

He also added that suggested modalities of support discussed during the meeting will be reviewed by donor governments so that reports are brought back to Rwanda in three months’ time.
