The outgoing leadership of Workforce Development Authority (WDA) last week handed over the agency’s to a new team.

Francis Gatare who chaired the Board of Directors, handed over to John Bideri while Jean Damascene Gatabazi who has been the Director General of WDA passed the baton to Albert Nsengiyunva.

Officiating at the handover ceremony, the State Minister in the Ministry of Education, Dr Matthias Hareramungu, hailed the work accomplished by the outgoing leadership and urged those taking up the mantle to emulate them and keep up the spirit of team work.

"I have been working in the civil society and private sector for almost 26 years. I am a team player and I will ensure that as a team, we score in the same goal,” he assured.

Among the pressing issues the new leadership inherited, is the 18-months agreement WDA signed with Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) worth USD2 m.

The agreement signed on September 16 last year, will see SCE help establish and nurture a competitive Vocational Education Training (TVET) system.
