Electrogaz defender dies

TOP division side Electrogaz FC is mourning the sudden death of their player Ngoyi Tambwe. The Congolese-born central defender, who had also featured for Atraco and Police in the past is said to have died in his sleep on Wednesday night. According to the deceased’s former coach Gasa Mbungo, conditions surrounding his death remain unclear although rumours point to poisoning.

TOP division side Electrogaz FC is mourning the sudden death of their player Ngoyi Tambwe. The Congolese-born central defender, who had also featured for Atraco and Police in the past is said to have died in his sleep on Wednesday night.

According to the deceased’s former coach Gasa Mbungo, conditions surrounding his death remain unclear although rumours point to poisoning.

Tambwe made his name while at Police. He was instrumental in keeping the team in the top flight.

It is also reported that the player was considering a move back to his native country to play for Lupopo FC.

Tambwe is survived by a wife and two children.
