Six on trials at Kiyovu

Ntagwabira is eager to reinforce his side before the second round of the league.

SC KIYOVU has brought in six players for trials as it looks to reinforce the squad ahead of the second half of the league.

Some of the players in focus include former APR defender Abubaker Tabula, Shaka Okello, Mbanza Moussa Rukundo and the unsettled Atraco midfielder Irankunda Djabir.

Tabula, 29 is a Ugandan international who has been featuring in the Swedish second division league with GIF Sandsvall.

"We need to strengthen this team of we are to improve our performance in the second round,” SC Kiyovu’s head Coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira said.

The four-time league champions, who open their second round campaign this weekend with a stern test against Musanze, ended their first round campaign in fifth place with 19 points after a run of six wins, one draw and four defeats. 

Reigning champions APR and Etincelles were tied at the top with 24 points, although the army side has a superior goal average.

Meanwhile, Kiyovu have to find a new president for their fans’ club after reports of Karim Kamegeri resignation.

Kamegeri, a long-time Kiyovu diehard said, "I’m stepping down due to reasons beyond my control.”
