Fire burnt to ashes a house belonging to Joseph Misago, a resident of Kabeza Cell in Kanombe Sector, Kicukiro District yesterday night.

The fire that was put out through the concerted efforts by residents, started at around 1 pm in the morning.

Speaking to The New Times yesterday, Donatien Siborurema who rents the room where the fire started, said that he suspects that an arsonist could have ignited the fire with the intention of killing him.

"I had nothing inside the house that could have started the fire because when I came in I went straight to bed,” he said.

"I think someone wanted to finish me off since nothing inside the house could have caused the fire.”

Siborurema, 24 says that if it had not been for the neighbours who helped pour water on the door way, he would have been burnt to ashes.

"When I woke up, I immediately started calling out for help. My neighbour came to my rescue and poured water around the door way which enabled me to get out of the house sustaining minor burns on my hands,” narrated Siborurema.

Siborurema was however, not able to recover any property from the inferno and was by press time not able to estimate the total worth of the property inside the house.
