Al Hilal Omdurman head coach Laurentiu Reghecampf has confirmed the signing of APR FC centre-back Clement Niyigena on a three-year deal.
Reghecampf confirmed the move on Thursday, January 29, during a pre-match press conference ahead of Al Hilal’s CAF Champions League group-stage clash against South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday.
Commenting on the transfer, the Romanian coach said Niyigena is among the new signings expected to strengthen the squad ahead of the second round of the Rwanda Premier League and the remainder of the CAF Champions League campaign.
"We will see how this player adapts to our system. They will have time, and they are coming to improve the quality of our team,” Reghecampf told journalists.
Times Sport understands that Al Hilal paid $120,000 (approximately Rwf 160 million) to APR FC for the 24-year-old defender, who had six months remaining on his contract.
Niyigena also received a $50,000 signing bonus and will earn a monthly salary of $10,000 (around Rwf 14 million).
The defender began his career at APR’s academy in 2017, before moving to Intare FC in 2018 and Marines FC between 2019 and 2020. He later featured for Rayon Sports from 2020 to 2022.
