Rayon Sports’ new signing Didier Mugisha says he is eager to score against his former club Police FC when the two sides meet in the Heroes Cup 2026 semifinal at Kigali Pelé Stadium on January 29.

Mugisha joined the Blues on Monday, January 26, after being informed that he was not part of Ben Moussa’s plans at Police FC. The striker is now determined to prove his former coach wrong if given a chance by Rayon Sports head coach Bruno Ferry.

"It’s good for me to be here, and I want to give my best whenever I get the opportunity to play,” Mugisha said. "It will be nice to face my former teammates, and I’m really looking forward to scoring against them.”

He admitted the match will be emotional but remains focused. "It will be an emotional game for me, but I have to give my best. I don’t know how I will feel, but I’m ready to work.”

Mugisha also acknowledged the challenge ahead, describing Police FC as one of the strongest teams in the league. "It will be a tough game, but we must be ready and make the most of our chances,” he added.

Organised annually by FERWAFA in partnership with the Chancellery for Heroes, National Orders and Decorations of Honour (CHENO), the Heroes Cup symbolises honour, remembrance, and sporting excellence. The winner between Police FC and Rayon Sports will advance to the final scheduled for February 1 at Amahoro Stadium.
