The Water and Sanitation Corporation (WASAC Group) has introduced a new system allowing customers to apply for water services through the IremboGov platform.

Effective January 26, applications for new water connections, supplementary meters, and water reconnection requests can now be submitted online. The initiative is being implemented under a pilot phase in the City of Kigali.

According to WASAC, the pilot aims to test the new service processes, collect customer feedback, and make necessary improvements before expanding the system to other districts across the country.

The move to digital applications is expected to strengthen service delivery and enhance transparency by enabling customers to submit and track their requests online, reducing the need for physical visits to WASAC offices.

WASAC has in recent years stepped up efforts to curb corruption and improve accountability in service delivery. In June last year, the utility entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Transparency International Rwanda (TIR) to promote integrity and transparency within its operations.

WASAC last year took disciplinary action against staff implicated in corrupt practices, dismissing 27 employees.
