Early provisional results from Uganda's 2026 general elections indicate that incumbent President Yoweri Museveni is maintaining a commanding lead, securing approximately 76% of the votes.

According to announcements from the Electoral Commission on Friday morning, Museveni of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has garnered about 76.25% of the tallied votes, equivalent to roughly 3.9 million votes.

This is based on results from nearly 45% of polling stations nationwide, with tallying processes still ongoing across the country.

Main opposition challenger Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine and representing the National Unity Platform (NUP), trails significantly with around 19.85% of the votes, or approximately 1.3 million votes.

The remaining share is distributed among six other candidates, who have received minimal support in the partial count.

The presidential and parliamentary elections took place on Thursday, January 15, with a registered electorate of over 21 million.

While these provisional figures show a strong position for Museveni, final official results are expected in the coming days as more polling stations report.
