APR flop John Karangwa is reported to be on the verge of rejoining former club URA.

The 24-year-old defender joined the military side last year but could only muster one league appearance in the first round forcing APR head coach Erik Paske to dump him.

Karangwa told Times Sport yesterday that injuries were the main reason for his poor form at the army side.

"I got a knee injury during training with the national team and have not fully recovered since. Unfortunately, the coach couldn’t wait any longer so he had to let me go,” the soft-spoken defender said. Other sources indicate that Paske actually accused Karangwa of feigning injury and refusing to play.

Meanwhile, APR have been reported to Caf by URA for signing up Karangwa illegally. The defender agreed personal terms with APR, and was given Rwf 8.3m, but there was not agreement between the two clubs.

URA’s team manager Sam Okapo confirmed that the club has indeed lodged a complaint with Caf but refused to say whether they will continue to purse the case since the defender is scheduled to return to the club.
