"When the time is right, I the Lord will make it happen.”

That line set the tone for gospel singer Prosper Nkomezi’s engagement announcement, which he shared with fans on January 13 after proposing to his fiancée, Retina Nkurunziza, during an intimate lakeside moment.

Nkomezi posted photos from the proposal on Instagram, pairing the images with a message rooted in faith and gratitude. "My heart chose you, and heaven approved. I love you today, tomorrow and forever Thirteen,” he wrote.

The news drew warm reactions across social media, with fans, fellow gospel artistes, and public figures offering congratulations and well wishes as the couple prepares for marriage.

Nkomezi is one of Rwanda’s best-known gospel voices, celebrated for music that blends inspiration with clear faith-based themes.

Since launching his career in 2017, the singer, born in 1995, has built a loyal following in Rwanda and beyond.

The engagement follows earlier comments by Nkomezi that hinted at marriage in 2026, remarks that had already stirred interest among fans.

The couple has yet to announce wedding details.
