Kigali City making good progress

Editor,

I appreciate Kigali City Council’s move to be seen as being more accountable to the public.

As someone who likes to know where his tax monies are spent, I was very interested in Kigali City Council’s performance results during last year.

The function which was chaired by Kigali City Mayor, Aisha Kirabo Kacyira and Local Government Minister James Musoni, and held at the Kigali Independent University (ULK) on Saturday, showed that the City achieved tremendous progress in the areas of security, economy, environment protection and infrastructural development.

It surprised me to find that the KCC"reconstructed 36km of roads in 2009.

This kind of progress is to be commended, especially when you consider that Kigali’s population is close to a million people; providing social amenities isn’t easy for a city growing so fast. KCC, keep aiming high!
