Dr. Charles Mugemana, a long-serving team doctor at Rayon Sports, has passed away after a prolonged illness, the club has announced.

Rayon Sports confirmed his death in a statement shared on its official platforms, paying tribute to his decades of service. "Over 30 years of dedicated service to Rayon Sports, we honour and celebrate his life,” the club said.

Dr. Mugemana joined Rayon Sports in 1995 and went on to serve the club for more than three decades, becoming one of the most familiar and respected figures within Gikundiro’s technical and medical setup.

He fell ill in September 2025 and was receiving treatment at University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK). Beyond football, Dr. Mugemana was also known as the father of Rwandan artist Queen Cha.

In March 2025, during a league match between APR FC and Rayon Sports, the club publicly honoured Dr. Mugemana in recognition of his 30 years of service, a moment that drew applause from players, officials, and supporters.
