Storm destroys classrooms, injures 10

NYAGATARE - A raging storm last week destroyed part of the classrooms that were being constructed under 9-year basic education program at Nyarupfubire Secondary School, in Rwimiyaga sector, Nyagatare district. The incident happened at around 11 a.m. “The storm ripped off the roof of the four classroom block,” site manager, Theobald Gahunga said.

NYAGATARE - A raging storm last week destroyed part of the classrooms that were being constructed under 9-year basic education program at Nyarupfubire Secondary School, in Rwimiyaga sector, Nyagatare district. 

The incident happened at around 11 a.m. "The storm ripped off the roof of the four classroom block,” site manager, Theobald Gahunga said.

‘It was God’s mercy that my workers survived the incident. They were on top of the building working when heavy winds  came.’ Gahunga added that some construction workers sustained minor injuries and were taken to Bugaragara health centre for treatment. 

This is the second building to be destroyed by the stormy weather since November last year.
