Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) pulled off a thrilling five-set victory over East Africa University Rwanda (EAUR) in a dramatic volleyball league encounter held at Ste Famille Gymnasium on Saturday.

The Kigali-based club, which finished the first phase of the league in seventh place out nine teams, made a strong return with a hard-fought win in five sets (20–25, 25–22, 26–24, 15–25, 15–11).

EAUR started the match aggressively and took the first set 25–20 but KVC responded quickly to win the second set 25–22 and the third 26–24 to lead the game.

Facing defeat, EAUR regrouped strongly in the fourth set and claimed it to 25–15, hence forcing the game into a decisive tie-break.

KVC’s cohesion and composure proved decisive in the final moments, as they secured their third victory of the season after taking the tiebreak set 15–11.

"We tried to play a collective game. Of course, EAUR pushed us hard, but our confidence in the final minutes lifted us and helped us claim this win,” KVC head coach Jean Marie Nsengiyumva told Times Sport.

In other men’s fixtures, Kirehe VC fell to RP-Ngoma in straight sets (28–26, 25–22, 25–22). The defeat compounded a difficult start to the season for Kirehe VC, who are yet to register a win this season.

In the women’s category, both Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) and Police WVC cruised to comfortable victories. RRA swept Ruhango WVC in straight sets (25–13, 25–6, 25–19), while Police WVC dominated RP-Huye in three sets (25–13, 25–12, 25–18).
