Man held for defilement

GISAGARA -  Police in Gikonko sector, Gisagara district are holding a man accused of defiling two young girls, both aged 8 in separate incidents. Jean-Baptiste Nkundabagenzi, a local artist was arrested on January 18. According to sources, the suspect used to take the two young girls to his own home where he is suspected to have often defiled them.

GISAGARA -  Police in Gikonko sector, Gisagara district are holding a man accused of defiling two young girls, both aged 8 in separate incidents.

Jean-Baptiste Nkundabagenzi, a local artist was arrested on January 18.

According to sources, the suspect used to take the two young girls to his own home where he is suspected to have often defiled them.

One of the victims confirmed that the man defiled her many times, after offering them money and other gifts.

"The man took me inside his house several  times and always forced me to have sex with him.He used to tell me that the day I will reveal it he will kill me”, the girl revealed.

The children’s mother said she was always suspicious of the suspect’s conduct towards her children.

Gikonko sector leader, Etienne Mugambira, revealed that medical tests confirmed that the girls had been defiled, although the suspect denies all the allegations leveled against him.  

If convicted, defilement attracts life imprisonment and a fine ranging from Rwf100,000 to 200,000.
