FERWABA confirmed on Thursday, that the Rwanda Basketball League, initially scheduled to commence on January 24, has been postponed to February 6.

The Rwanda Basketball League, initially scheduled to commence on January 24, has been postponed to February 6, local basketball governing body (FERWABA) confirmed on Thursday.

FERWABA Executive Director François-Régis Gahuranyi told Times Sport that the delay is due to the unavailability of key venues, BK Arena and Petit Stade Gymnasium, which will host the 27th Men’s Senior Handball Africa Cup of Nations from January 21 to 31.

Nine clubs have been confirmed to compete in the 2026 men’s top-tier league. They include defending champions APR, Patriots, REG, Tigers, UGB, Kepler, AZOMCO, EAUR and Inspired Generations.

The women’s league will attract 11 teams namely REG, Kepler, APR, The Hoops, GS Gahini, GS Marie-Rene, AZOMCO, University of Rwanda Huye, University of Rwanda Kigali, EAUR and IPRC-Huye.
