In a statement posted on X, RIB said Bahame is accused of "abusing authority entrusted to him by law for personal gain, including soliciting or committing acts of sexual exploitation against some individuals undergoing rehabilitation at the centre.”
The bureau noted that investigations into the alleged offences are still ongoing, as authorities work to establish the full extent of the misconduct.
RIB further warned people involved in crimes related to sexual exploitation and corruption to desist, emphasising that such offences carry severe penalties under Rwandan law. The bureau also commended citizens who came forward with information, urging the public to continue reporting acts of violence and abuse promptly.
Bahame has served as the coordinator of Gitagata Rehabilitation Centre since 2021.
