Colourful Christmas and New Year lights are bathing Kigali’s streets, roundabouts and public spaces in a festive glow as the city ushers in the end-of-year holiday season and welcomes the New Year 2026.

From major roundabouts and public squares in the Central Business District to key boulevards and avenues, including the Sonatubes and Kisimenti roundabouts, a dazzling display of lights and colours has transformed the cityscape, enhancing Kigali’s nighttime charm.

The sparkling decorations also illuminate some of the city’s high-rise buildings, entertainment venues, office blocks, bars and other business premises as Rwanda heads into Christmas holiday.

The festive décor beautifully complements the lush flowers and well-manicured greenery lining the streets, heightening the holiday spirit and adding to the city’s end-of-year cheer.

The New Times photographer, Craish Bahizi, captured the dazzling views of the capital.
