Gasogi United will be looking to put up a good performance to end a three-year losing streak against APR FC in the Rwanda Premier League on Friday, December 2, at Kigali Stadium.

The club has never won against APR ever since it was promoted to the top division three years ago. Nonetheless, coach Paul Kiwanuka’s side will be keen to maintain its winning form and jump to second place by beating the defending champions. Gasogi is fifth with 18 points, four points behind leaders, Rayon Sports, while APR is fourth with 19 points after 12 rounds.

However, Gasogi will be up against a seemingly unstoppable side, which has won more league titles than any other team in Rwanda.

"It will be tough but the objective is to try and get three points against APR. We will go into the game looking for nothing less than a win. I believe we can achieve our target and move up on the table,” Kiwanuka said.

The Ugandan tactician added: "We have to collect enough points, which makes Friday’s game a must-win for us.”

"Our target is to win the league title and if you want to make it happen, you need to win more games than your rivals. That is what we will try to do this season. We have to be well prepared for any challenge.”

Ben Moussa of APR also believes his side is capable of beating Gasogi United to continue their near-perfect run.

Moussa said: "We need to win the game and widen a little bit the gap between us and the teams below on the table. It will be a difficult match because Gasogi United will be looking to bounce back, so we have to be careful.”

"We have to be ready for every game ahead of us. Gasogi United is one of the good teams in the league with experienced players, so we have to be careful and avoid any complacency,” he acknowledged.

Elsewhere, Marines will host Mukura at Umuganda Stadium. Mukura sits in the ninth place with 14 points while Marines are bottom with five points.

Action continues Saturday, December 3, when AS Kigali will host SC Kiyovu, Sunrise will face Espoir, and Rutsiro takes on Police. On Sunday, December 4, Musanze will face Rwamagana while Rayon Sports will host Bugesera.
