KAYONZA – Teachers in Kayonza, whose salaries are paid through Banque Populaire branches in Kabarondo and Kayonza have blamed the bank and district officials for their salary delays.
Desire Niyonsaba, a head teacher of Rwinkwavu Secondary School, said that it was disturbing to see that schools for instance last received capitation grant in September 2009.
"Given this kind of delays it would be more advantageous for us join our own SACCO for the purposes of processing our salaries. I think the district officials concerned, too, are not doing enough to get us our pay on time,” he said.
The district Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs, Anita Mutesi, explained that the delays were caused because the concerned banks closed their doors during end of year festivities.
