AS Kigali vs Bugesera (Kigali Pelé Stadium, 3:00pm)
Gorilla vs Rayon Sports (Kigali Pelé Stadium, 6:30pm)
Rayon Sports will be aiming to return to winning ways when they face Gorilla FC at Kigali Pelé Stadium on Friday, December 19.
The Blues are coming off a shock defeat to Bugesera FC in Nyamata last weekend, a match that marked the final outing for assistant coach Haruna Ferouzi in his role as caretaker.
The club now enters a new era under newly appointed head coach Bruno Ferry, alongside Marcel Lomami, who was named first assistant coach earlier this week.
Lomami will take charge from the touchline during Friday’s encounter, while Ferry—who arrived in Kigali on Friday morning—will observe his new team from the stands as he prepares to officially begin his tenure.
Rayon Sports currently sit fifth on the Rwanda Premier League table with 17 points, nine behind leaders Police FC. A victory over Gorilla FC, who are 10th with 15 points, would help the Blues close the gap at the top of the standings.
"After losing against Bugesera FC, our focus is to bounce back on Friday,” Lomami said. "I want my players not only to get the three points but also to deliver a good performance and play better football.”
The match comes at a time when Alain Kirasa’s Gorilla FC have struggled for consistency, recording just one win in their past six outings.
However, a draw against APR FC on December 13 lifted their confidence, and Kirasa has urged his players to build on that momentum.
"We are not in a good position, so we must keep our spirits high and make sure we fight for three points,” Kirasa said. "These points are very important for us, and we will go into the game aiming for nothing but a win.”
