RWAMAGANA – Two competing transport companies yesterday focused their rivalry on parking space in Rwamagana. Officials from both Sotra and Stella transport companies openly differed over allocation of parking space in Rwamagana town.

Trouble started when the manager of Sotra only identified as Peter allegedly ordered the seizure of a taxi belonging to Stella Company.

The row caused uproar and was only calmed after police intervention.

According to an officer working with Stella identified as Manunsura both companies have been involved in long running feud over parking space.

"We need serious intervention from the authorities so that this push and shove rivalry is sorted out once and for all,” Manunsura said.

Passengers too say they are tired of the two companies’ unending wrangles.

"When these two companies fight it is us the passengers, who suffer at the end of the day,” Erick Kayinamura said.

Passengers added that what is needed is a properly secured and designated taxi park in which all companies can operate from.

Security officers in the district said that the issue is a long standing attributed to the absence a common taxi park.
