Bugesera FC piled more misery on Rayon Sports after claiming a 2–1 victory at Bugesera Stadium on Sunday.

Camarade Banamwana’s side was again a nightmare for the Blues who lost the title last season at Bugesera’s ground after losing 1-0 in a match that was characterized by refereeing controversy.

Prosper Rugangazi opened the scoring for the hosts in the 22nd minute to send the home crowd into a frenzy.

Rayon Sports pushed hard for an equalizer and were rewarded just before the break when striker Yves Habimana converted a penalty in the 45+2 minute after Emmanuel Kabange Nshimiyimana was fouled inside the box.

Bugesera FC coach Camarade Banamwana strongly protested the penalty decision by referee Celestin Nsabimana and was shown a yellow card for his reactions.

Despite conceding the equalizer, Bugesera FC remained mentally strong and continued pressing for a winner.

Their efforts paid off in the 78th minute when a swift counterattack saw Valua Byishimo unleash a powerful strike from outside the penalty area, which goalkeeper Yves Mugisha failed to stop.

Bugesera FC have now moved to 10th place with 13 points, while Rayon Sports stay in fifth place with 17 points.

Marines climb to second

At Umuganda Stadium, Marines FC secured a hard fought 1–0 victory over SC Kiyovu thanks to a 30th-minute goal from Moise Nyarugabo. The win lifted the Rubavu-based side to second place with 21 points.

Meanwhile, Mukura VS claimed a comfortable 2–0 win over Gicumbi FC in Huye. Elie Tatou Iradukunda gave the hosts the lead in the 27th minute, before Zuberi Hakizimana doubled the lead in the 75th minute. Mukura VS climbed to eighth place with 16 points.

Action continues on Monday as Al Hilal, unbeaten in their last four matches, host Rutsiro FC at Kigali Pelé Stadium.
