Etincelles secured a crucial 3-1 away victory against Musanze FC at Ubworoherane Stadium.

Etincelles FC head coach Djuma Masudi was relieved to see his side secure their first victory of the season in the Rwanda Premier League following a long winless run.

Etincelles brought their 10-match winless run to an end on Saturday with a crucial 3-1 away victory against Musanze FC at Ubworoherane Stadium.

Striker Robert Mukogotya netted a brace in the 20th and 45th minutes, while skipper Sadjati Niyonkuru was also on target in the 22nd minute to silence Musanze’s home crowd.

The victory marked a strong response from Masudi’s team, who had endured back-to-back defeats and several draws in the opening ten matches of the campaign.

"I am happy with the result and earning three points for the first time this season, and I want to build on it,” Masudi said.

"The overall performance of my players was excellent, especially in the first half. We have struggled to control games and score in previous matches, but now we can smile.”

The Burundian coach also praised his team’s mentality against Musanze who, despite the loss, were a tough opposition at their home ground.

"We showed strong character against a strong side like Musanze and managed to get all three points. They are a very good team, and I liked how my players responded,” he added.

Following the result, Etincelles moved up to 15th place with 10 points from 11 matches. They have now recorded one win, seven draws, and three defeats.
