MUHANGA - The family of a 13-year old child who was murdered last month has appealed to Police to hunt down the suspected murderer.

Residents of Rutenga village, Gahogo cell discovered the body of the late Minani Uwiragiye on new year’s eve  during a security operation conducted by security officials. The body was never claimed until recently.

Rachael Bazubagira, a relative to the deceased child, alleges that the boy was killed by one of their neighbours, only identified as Bosco.

"On the day of the murder, I gave Rwf26,000 to my [deceased] young brother in the presence of the suspect. It is possible that the child was killed because of the money,” she says.

The family’s neighbours also suspect Bosco to have committed the murder because he has since gone in hiding. He is suspected to be in Kibuye.

The boy’s body was found dumped in a banana plantation in the same neighbourhood where Bosco resided with the head wrapped in a polythene bag.

When contacted, police said investigations are ongoing in an effort to apprehend the suspects. Police appealed to residents for cooperation.
