KIGALI - Ten young outstanding people in various fields and careers will be recognised by the Junior Chamber International (JCI), a non profit NGO with a chapter in Rwanda.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Fabrice Ngoga Shema, President of the chapter, said that the awards are meant to recognise the young achievers’ efforts and also motivate them to reach greater heights.

"It’s also meant to inspire others in the same direction,” he pointed out

The awards, the first of their kind in Rwanda, will cover various realms of accomplishments like career, innovation and creativity, outstanding leadership roles, among others.

The awards dubbed ‘Ten Outstanding Young Persons’ will go to people aged between 18 to 40 years.

"We are now involved in the first phase of preparations. We want to give a chance to as many young people around the country as possible to participate,” Shema said.

He added that JCI-Rwanda is devoted to empowering young people to enhance their innovativeness and develop their entrepreneurial skills.

This month, JCI Rwanda will host a gala which will feature business discussions and networking between JCI members and other business gurus from a wider business world.

The Rwandan chapter was also chosen to host the Africa-Middle East Conference next month which will focus on growth and development.
