Karekezi linked to Holland move

FORMER Amavubi skipper Olivier Karekezi is back in the limelight after reports that he could continue his professional career in Holland. The midfielder, who can also play as a striker has been linked with a move to Holland’s first division side Groningen.

FORMER Amavubi skipper Olivier Karekezi is back in the limelight after reports that he could continue his professional career in Holland.

The midfielder, who can also play as a striker has been linked with a move to Holland’s first division side Groningen.

Karekezi, who is back to full fitness after undergoing surgery on his right thigh exploded to the scene while playing for APR. He was later traded to Helsingborg IF in 2005 before joining Norway’s Ham-Kam in 2008. While at Helsingborg IF, he made 60 appearances scoring 18 goals.

At Ham Kam, he scored six goals from 18 appearances.
Karekezi was also part of that popular Amavubi side that helped Rwanda qualify for their first ever Africa Nations Cup (CAN) in 2004 in Tunisia.

He boasts of 44 caps and six goals for Amavubi. The 26-year-old player is currently a free agent.
