GICUMBI - Christians of Byumba Catholic diocese have been called upon to preach the gospel of Peace and Unity, in order to change their lives and ensure a bright future.

The call was made on Friday by Byumba Catholic diocese Bishop Servirien Nzakamwita, during New Year prayers held at the Cathedral.

"If you want peace to prevail in society, you should all endeavor to respect human life and dignity,” said Nzakamwita.

He called upon Christians to embrace the qualities of humility, love and kindness by assisting vulnerable members in the society, adding that true Christians should devote their time on making the world a better place to live.

"The Pope’s New Year message to all Christians is to embrace peace at all levels in society,” he urged the thousands who attended the mass.

The New Year’s prayers were attended by a large congregation of Catholic believers, who sang praises to God and called on followers to embrace love and unity.
