President Faustin-Archange Touadéra of Central African Republic (CAR) arrived in Rwanda on Sunday, November 23, for a two-day working visit.
He was received at Kigali International Airport by Minister of Interior Vincent Biruta.

Rwanda and CAR enjoy longstanding ties, particularly in security cooperation. Rwanda has deployed troops to CAR under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission (MINUSCA), as well as through a separate bilateral defence arrangement.
Rwanda has also supported CAR’s efforts to reform its security sector, including the training of CAR’s armed forces.

In 2023, President Touadéra hailed Rwanda for what he described as a "fruitful” partnership, noting that Rwandan support had played a key role in helping restore peace and stability in CAR.
In December 2020, the Rwandan military helped block the advance of the Coalition of Patriots for Change (CPC), a rebel alliance led by former president François Bozizé, as it attempted to move toward Bangui.
At the time, Rwanda quickly deployed forces under a bilateral arrangement on defence to bolster CAR’s armed forces.
