New Karongi radio to promote business

KARONGI – Plans for the establishment of a community radio in Karongi district are in their final stages, an official said. The radio which is an initiative of an association of local entrepreneurs and reputable business owners is set to go on air by next year. During a consultative meeting held on Monday at the district headquarters in Rubengera Sector, residents and local leaders expressed gratitude and willingness to make the dream a reality.

KARONGI – Plans for the establishment of a community radio in Karongi district are in their final stages, an official said.

The radio which is an initiative of an association of local entrepreneurs and reputable business owners is set to go on air by next year.

During a consultative meeting held on Monday at the district headquarters in Rubengera Sector, residents and local leaders expressed gratitude and willingness to make the dream a reality.

"This is a very impressive development and we are all determined to work together and achieve the set target,” Jean Bosco Munyentwari, a local businessman said.

Munyentwari expressed optimism the radio would help in the publicity of local businesses and their products.

The mayor of Karongi district, Bernard Kayumba, said the development will no doubt help people emerge out of poverty.
