HAS TO BE PATIENT: Rayonu2019s secretary general Olivier Gakwaya is keeping his fingers crossed about a possible sponsorship deal with Tigo.

SIX-time league champions Rayon Sport have to wait a little longer before knowing if they will sway new Telecommunications provider Tigo into funding the club.

The Blues’ Secretary General Olivier Gakwaya recently told Times Sport that the club doesn’t expect a quick response from the Telecom Company.

"Our proposal is in and we are now waiting for their response,” Gakwaya said.

Rayon, who last won league title in 2004, has been hit with financial constraints. It is reported that the club’s poor performances over the last four years have been down to low finances to bring in good quality players.

Last season, some players threatened to walk out on the club over pending salaries.

The club management is now relying on fans to honour their monthly pledges so as to maintain the club’s day to day affairs.

This year, Rayon has set its eyes at a top-two finish which will guarantee them a place in the 2011 Africa Champions League or the 2011 Africa Confederations Cup.
